Today we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Highlight for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
When we started Highlight, our goal was to make it easier for you to learn about people nearby. Thanks to smartphones, you suddenly had a wealth of data about the people around you sitting in your pocket. It was really exciting, but we’ve always felt that phones were just the first step.
With today’s Galaxy Gear launch, we’re bringing that information one step closer to you. Here’s how it works:
See who’s nearby
The home screen for Highlight on your Galaxy Gear is a quick, bird’s-eye view of the people around you. To browse through profiles one at a time, just swipe left.
If you’re talking with someone and forget their name, a quick glance at your watch will help you remember it.
Browse your history
Keep swiping left to see who you were near earlier that day. If you notice a friend was around, double tap to high five them and say a quick hello.
Photos at a glance
When someone nearby posts a photo to Highlight, it will show up on your watch. Tap the heart to like it without ever having to reach for you phone.
Want to stay in touch? Just shake hands with someone and your watches will record when and where you met.
We believe that with social products, small differences in friction matter a lot: In the published world, the shift from printed letters, to email, to ambient streams like Facebook and Twitter has helped us stay more connected with the people we love. We’re excited to start bringing more ambient versions of Highlight to the real world - so that you can see more about the people around you and feel more connected wherever you go.
